ABOUT THE RESTAURANT

The strength of the traditional gastronomy of Alentejo mixes itsef with new approaches to cooking, bringing it to a new level, but not willing to forget what makes it a staple. It would be unforgivable then if the 'Bacalhau Dourado' ('Golden Codfish') was left out. It has been a long time since it became the 'master of ceremonies', worthy of long trips just to taste it. The SL Hotel is part of the business group which also runs the restaurant A Cadeia Quinhentista, in Estremoz, winner of several gastronomy awards and named 'Ambassador of Alentejo' by the Turismo of Alentejo authority.

Sopa da Panela

Bread, Black pork smoked sausage, Spring chicken, Regional lamb and mint.

Bacalhau Dourado, since 1947

Shredded codfish, olive oil, eggs and ‘cheveux d’ange’ potatoes, with a shot of Gazpacho and olive paste.

Spring Chicken Casserole

Stewed, smoked ham, raisins, onions, new potatoes. Flavoured with liqueur wine of Borba.

Pork Feet with Coriander Sauce

Long-grain Rice of Alcácer do Sal.

‘Sericaia’ with Elvas Plums

Traditional Desert of Alentejo made with eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and lemon, served with the iconic and famous Elvas Plums.
